HOLY WEEK SERVICES: This is Holy Week, and special services at Wesley Memorial will be held on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 2 and 3. Both services, A Thursday with Jesus and And Then It Was Friday, will be held in the sanctuary at 6 p.m. The Easter Sunday service, The Best is Yet to Come!, will be held at 11 a.m. and includes Holy Communion. The service will be followed by a children's Easter Egg Hunt on the front lawn of the church and a time of fellowship. Please plan to be with us!
EASTER LILIES: Our thanks to everyone who donated the beautiful lilies for the Easter Sunday service. At the conclusion of the service, Jennifer Franks will be in the chancel to assist you as you collect your lilies to enjoy at home or to deliver to a loved one.
OUR THANKS: In celebration of Palm Sunday, we collected gently used or new coats, sweaters and sweatshirts, and afterwards donated them to the Warren Ministries United Clothing Closet. You also stepped up and responded to an urgent food drive for Loaves and Fishes. Our thanks to all of you for your generous support of both projects.
A STUDY ON DISCIPLESHIP: Next Sunday, April 12, Ray Gooch will begin a new six-week study on Discipleship, each Sunday morning through May 17 at 9:30 a.m. Study guides for the class are available in the narthex. The class will meet in the front of the sanctuary. All are welcome and encouraged to participate.
CAMPAIGN TO LAUNCH APRIL 12: Next Sunday, we will begin participating in a capital campaign that seeks to establish an endowment for theological education in Africa, the Philipines and Europe. The campaign, How Did Jesus Call Disciples?, is a worldwide effort sponsored by the United Methodist Church that will inform people about the urgent need for the local church to assist with theological education for clergy, internationally.
PRAYER TREE CROSS: The additional cross in our sanctuary was constructed from the Community Prayer Tree that graced our church lawn during Advent. Attached at the center of the cross are the shredded prayer concerns from the Prayer Tree, reminding us that our prayers and concerns are held in God’s heart. Throughout the season of Lent, this cross will help us focus on the gospel proclaimed by Jesus.
FATHER/CHILD RETREAT: There will be a Father/Child retreat at Camp Don Lee, April 24-26 for Fathers or Father figures and children ages 5-17. The cost is $138 for the Adult and $95 for each child, which includes 2 nights' lodging, all activities and 4 meals (Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast). The registration ends April 9. Contact Ray Gooch for registration information.
NOTE CARDS AVAILABLE: Wesley Memorial note cards have been printed and are available in packages of 5 for $5. Call or text Elaine Coleman, 252-425-5616, if you are interested in purchasing.
PLASTIC BAGS: Please remember to bring your unwanted plastic grocery bags to the church to be passed along to Loaves and Fishes. They will make great use of all that we provide! There is a collection box in the back entrance by the church office. Thanks!
