Worship at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church is scripture based following the liturgical year, highlighting the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. The goal of worship is to make, nurture, equip and disperse disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The sacrament of Holy Communion is generally celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions. In the Wesleyan tradition the table is open to all. The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as requested.

In worship each person is an essential part of the Body of Christ as we are or as we shall become. All are welcome to explore God’s calling and claim upon our lives.

Music

Wesley Memorial has a longstanding tradition of making beautiful music that's an integral part of weekly and special worship services. The Chancel Choir is led by Organist/Choir Director Chet Hunt who incorporates organ, piano and occasional guest instrumentalists. The hymns, musical responses and anthems coordinate with the Biblical lessons, sermon and other aspects of the service, all of which are appropriate to the season of the liturgical year. For special services, singers from other churches and in the community are typically invited and encouraged to join the choir.

Wesley Memorial is blessed to possess a fine two-manual, nine rank Tellers organ dating from 1946, which also possibly incorporates some pipework from an earlier 1905 Hook and Hastings organ. The pipework is enclosed and under expression, with the organ chamber fronted by beautiful Neo-Gothic grillwork dating from the 1956 renovation of the church.

Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings each week, mid-September through mid-May. Anyone with a love for singing and making music is welcome and encouraged to join!
